Accomplishments & Issues

Jobs and the Economy:
In the House, Carl stood up to banking interests to protect families faced with losing their homes. He championed an affordable housing bill, and has been a strong advocate for responsible investments in our community. He supported job creation legislation and will continue to fight for more job opportunities in the green economy.

Carl makes public education a top priority. He champions legislation to reform MCAS testing, addressing the needs of our most vulnerable children. Carl will continue to fight for the needs of public schools in Medford and Somerville including greater learning opportunities for all of our students through arts, music, and after school programs.

Carl is committed to ensuring all of our families have a chance to succeed. He championed legislation to ensure every person can pursue job and housing opportunities without discrimination. He will continue to be unwavering in his support for equality, civil rights and strong communities.

Carl is a leader on the Green Line Extension to Medford and Somerville, which is expected to break ground later this year. He is a daily T rider, and strongly believes in the importance of public transit. Carl worked tirelessly with community members to avoid drastic cuts in MBTA services and fare hikes, and will continue to fight for passage of statewide transportation reform.
