Sciortino wins SEIU, AFL-CIO local endorsements.

The following is a press release from The Committee to Re-Elect Rep. Carl Sciortino.

The Committee to Re-Elect Rep. Carl Sciortino today announced that several prominent labor organizations have endorsed his re-election campaign, including the Service Employees International Union Massachusetts State Council (including SEIU 1199 and SEIU 509), the Medford Police Patrolman's Association, and the Massachusetts Laborers District Council, AFL-CIO. The Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists has also endorsed Sciortino.

"Growing up in a working-class family has shaped my priorities as a legislator," said Rep. Sciortino. "I have fought for people who work hard, yet too often have trouble making ends meet. One of the most satisfying things about my two terms in the State House has been the opportunity to stand up for working families."

Paul McNally and Tony Pini of the Massachusetts Laborers District Council praised Rep. Sciortino's "commitment to community and working families," and the Medford Police Patrolman's Association lauded his "political courage."

Carl Sciortino is a two-term Democratic State Representative in the 34th Middlesex District, serving parts of Somerville and Medford. Rep. Sciortino has been endorsed by the American Federation of Teachers-Massachusetts, the Boston Teachers Union, Clean Water Action, Democracy for America, Mass Alliance, MassEquality, the Massachusetts Laborers District Council-AFL-CIO, the Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters, Massachusetts NOW, the Massachusetts Nurses Association, the Massachusetts Organization of State Engineers and Scientists, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Medford Police Patrolman's Association, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the National Association of Social Workers-Massachusetts, Neighbor to Neighbor, the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund, the Progressive Democrats of Somerville, the Service Employees International Union Massachusetts State Council, the Sierra Club of Massachusetts, and the Young Democrats of Massachusetts.
